I bought this light as I wanted something really intense at the rear of the bike. I wasn't disappointed. It has 2 rows of 5 LEDs which can be operated independently by buttons at the end. Multiple presses bring an array of constant illumination to flashing, sweeping and dancing LED sequences. Looking directly at the light will leave you seeing red spots for a while which of course always happens when you need to turn it off.

It clips in to it's holder securely and you can adjust the angle easily. It takes AA batteries so lasts for ages.

I recommend this light for commuting. It is so bright, you can see the red glow reaching out either side of you! It's robust, easy to put in your pocket and comes from a pedigree manufacturer. As for the cost? It depends on what price you put on your personal safety.

Not the prettiest, but this light gets people's attention for all the right reasons- it really is bright. Don't confuse this one with the LD1000. It looks the same, but according to a sticker on the LD1100's box, the '1000 is only about half as bright...

Features two independently controlled rows of five LED's, each row with it's own switch. Modes are flashing, constant, side-to-side, and random (actually a sequence that gives a random effect). Six LED's face backwards, two left, and two right- side visibility is excellent.

Comes with a belt/rucksack clip, plus two different diameter clips for frame or seatpost. Two minor complaints- The release lever protrudes downwards a bit on the latter, meaning that you can't mount anything else directly beneath on a seatpost. The light has to lift quite a way upwards out of it's clip, meaning that you won't be able to mount it right up under your saddle.

Still, a brilliant light, which is apparently one of the brightest self-contained units on the market. Recommended.

I had my last bike stolen, I was gutted of course, but on this occassion I was doubled angry as some thief also stole a great back light.

I'll be buying a new Cateye LD1100 for my new bike, of course.

PS: If any body has seen a chav on a Grey Cyclocross Kona stolen in the Clifton area of Bristol please send me an email :/
